Melvindale Housing Commission
Welcome! to the Melvindale Housing Commission. The Melvindale Housing Commission (MHC) provides housing assistance to low-income residents of Wayne County, Michigan. We currently serve over 300 households. We manage one public housing development called Coogan Terrace. This apartment building has 199 one-bedroom apartments for elderly or disabled persons. We also administer tenant based rental assistance, commonly referred to as the Housing Choice Voucher Program.
MHC is committed to creating and preserving affordable housing and caring livable communities; while serving the diverse needs of Wayne County residents through innovative programs, partnership and effective stewardship.
The Melvindale Housing Commission is a municipal not-for-profit corporation, governed by a
Board of Commissioners consisting of five members. They are appointed by the Mayor.
